Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Information Technology

Ian Hyatt was named Purdue’s chief information officer (CIO) and vice president of information technology in June 2021. He heads Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP), the central IT organization on the flagship West Lafayette campus, and provides leadership to campus distributed IT units while also serving as the CIO for the Purdue system.

Prior to  Purdue, Hyatt was the vice president of global services, logistics and fleet for IGT Providence and held several other vice president roles within IGT. He also serves as the State Command Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and Rhode Island Air National Guard, where he has served since 1985.

Chief Master Sgt. Hyatt’s 36-year military career and his lengthy executive experience in information technology is the bedrock of ITaP’s continuing modernization and innovation. ITaP operates the Purdue System Cloud, the IT infrastructure that spans the main campus and two satellite campuses, and offers a nationally recognized high-performance computing complex that supports Purdue’s computational research.

Hyatt oversees ITaP’s five core areas: cybersecurity, end user experience, IT enterprise reporting, IT infrastructure services and research services and support.
