BoilerCast lecture capture now powered by Kaltura

BoilerCast, Purdue’s in-class lecture capture service, is now part of Kaltura, a move that will allow instructors to view all of their video content in one system.

Instructors who use BoilerCast to record classroom lectures will see virtually no changes to the service, except that their lecture capture videos will now be accessible by logging into Kaltura, instead of the Echo360 Active Learning platform. Students can access course videos using the BoilerCast link in Blackboard.

Kaltura allows faculty to upload and distribute videos on a variety of platforms, including MediaSpace, Blackboard and embedded in a website.

Instructors who have previously recorded lecture captures using BoilerCast will be able to access those recordings in their Kaltura account, but previously used links or embedded video will no longer be valid and will need to be updated.

Faculty interested in using BoilerCast to record their classroom lectures can fill out a request form online.

Questions about BoilerCast and the move to Kaltura or requests for consultations about how to use BoilerCast can be sent to tlt@purdue.edu.
