BoilerCast lecture capture now powered by Kaltura

BoilerCast, Purdue’s in-class lecture capture service, is now part of Kaltura, a move that will allow instructors to view all of their video content on the same system.

Instructors who use BoilerCast to record classroom lectures will see virtually no changes to the service, except that their lecture capture videos will now be accessible in Kaltura, instead of the Echo360 Active Learning Platform. Students will continue to access new classroom recordings using the BoilerCast link in Blackboard.

Kaltura allows faculty to upload and distribute videos on a variety of platforms, including MediaSpace, Blackboard and embedded in a website. Kaltura also features a new personal capture option, called Kaltura Capture, which allows faculty to create video content outside of the classroom.

Previously recorded lecture captures are available via Blackboard Learn or in MediaSpace, but previously used links or embedded video will no longer be valid and will need to be updated. Questions about BoilerCast and the move to Kaltura or requests for consultations about how to use BoilerCast can be sent to tlt@purdue.edu.

Faculty interested in using BoilerCast to record their classroom lectures need to fill out a request form online.
