Disaster recovery test will take numerous business apps off line Sept. 15

A variety of Purdue’s business applications, affecting services ranging from leave requests to purchasing, will be off line from 5 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, to test the disaster recovery plan of the University’s SAP service provider.

Applications that will be unavailable during the test include the OnePurdue portal employee self-service leave request, salary statement, taxes, payroll deduction and performance management functions and the manager self-service leave request and performance management functions. Ariba procurement and AIMS faculty account projections, Finance Launchpad and Fix It are among other apps affected.

During the test, the OnePurdue portal will forward to a website noting that the test is in progress and the applications are unavailable. Once the test is complete, the OnePurdue portal will returned to normal operations.

The test is designed to ensure that Purdue’s business applications will be able to function in the event of a disaster at the main site hosting them. The test will involve switching to the backup site, after which Purdue technology staff members will make sure the applications run properly there.

The test should take place annually going forward. Users of the affected services don’t need to do anything, just be aware that the applications will be unavailable during the test.
