WebEx upgrade to change look and feel of video conferencing tool

WebEx, the web-conferencing tool available to all faculty, staff and students, will upgrade its user interface on Saturday, Sept. 15, meaning it will have a significantly different look and feel than previous versions of WebEx.

With the upgrade, all of the classic features of WebEx – like video conferencing, the ability to share screens and the multitude of ways to join a meeting – will stay the same. New features include the ability to customize video layouts and more options for displaying content.

The changes users should be aware of include:

  • The video portion of the WebEx meeting space will now be on the left side of the screen and will be the much larger, more dominant space.
  • Meeting controls will appear at the bottom of the video, instead of the top.
  • Meeting participants will now appear at the bottom of the screen, instead of the right sidebar.

Cisco has created an infographic to help WebEx users navigate the changes and provides information about new features.
