February technology workshops tailored for academic support staff

A new series of educational workshops is designed to help academic support staff learn to use classroom technologies to create accessible documents, set up web conferences, develop online surveys, and more.

The Academic Support Technology Series, offered by Purdue’s Innovative Learning Team, can help prepare departmental staff to work with faculty to support classroom instruction. These workshops are free and designed for academic administrative staff members, although faculty and graduate students are also welcome to attend. Participants do not need to be able to attend all sessions to register.

This series takes place every Tuesday in February from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Stanley Coulter Hall, Room 246. Each week’s session will focus on a different tool or process. Space is limited. Register for a workshop by clicking on the links below:

• Feb. 5:  Blackboard learning management system. An introduction to Blackboard will include how to upload files, create assignments and utilize the Grade Center.
• Feb. 12:  Accessible Document Design. An overview of how to make documents accessible for all students using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
• Feb. 19: WebEx video conferencing. This session will focus on WebEx basics, how to schedule meetings, share screens, host an audio conference, and other web conferencing features.
• Feb. 26:  Qualtrics surveys. This session will focus on Qualtrics basics, how to create a basic survey, preview and activate the survey, view results, and export data into an Excel spreadsheet.
