Classroom, lab computers being upgraded to Windows 10

Computers in centrally scheduled classrooms and ITaP computer labs will receive an upgrade to Windows 10 this summer, a move that won’t affect users' files but could result in some software settings being changed.

The upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 has already started in some ITaP computer labs, and will continue throughout the summer. Classroom computer upgrades will begin in May and last through August.

As of April 18, Windows 10 computers are located in MTHW 116, PHYS 139, STEW 102, WTHR 114, and EE 269 (key access provided by ECN for EE 269).  This list will be updated as Windows 10 computers are added.

Although the upgrade will not affect user accounts, some personalized settings – such as settings created for software like Microsoft Word or PowerPoint – could be reset to the default setting.

Before the start of the fall semester, faculty are encouraged to visit their classroom to check that necessary software applications are working properly with Windows 10.

Questions about the upgrade to Windows 10 can be sent to itap@purdue.edu.
