This holiday season marked the return of Purdue Information Technology’s annual golf tournament and food drive, sponsored by IT Enterprise Solutions. On Dec. 7, teams constructed mini-golf holes from non-perishable items that could be donated to the local Food Finders Food Bank. In addition to the 2,323 pounds of non-perishable food collected, Purdue IT employees also raised $1,400 for Food Finders. 

After construction of the course, seven teams took part in a friendly mini-golf tournament and potluck luncheon. Each hole had a jar or cup available to collect monetary donations for the Food Finders Food Bank. The team that collected the most donations earned bragging rights along with the traveling trophy.  

This annual tradition began in 2015 but was paused in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. In addition to supporting the food bank, it’s also an opportunity to recognize Purdue IT team accomplishments and welcome new staff.  

“It was great to bring back this event and include all Purdue IT employees regardless of location. It could not have happened without the support of Rita Clifford, executive director, IT Enterprise Solutions and her teams,” said Theresa Jacobsen, director, IT Business Solutions and Integration. “It’s a wonderful way to end the year. Besides being able to help the community and families in need, my favorite part is constructing the course and golfing. As you walk around, you see the creativity and generosity of individuals and hear the laughter and camaraderie among the various teams. Everyone seems to really enjoy these few hours together celebrating the year and enjoying the awesome food, especially the desserts!”
